AK Studio / Gallery came into being in early 2009 with the opening of my first solo exhibition, The dance of light.
Overlooking the Leschenault Inlet and within five minutes walking distance of the Bunbury City Centre, AK Studio / Gallery welcomes the activities and colours of the local environment. Walkers, joggers, cyclists, rowers, and events such as the Australia Day fireworks and Dragon boat races create ongoing interest from day to day.
AK Studio / Gallery is surrounded by a generous garden which provides an opportunity to connect physically and spiritually with the natural environment, delivering inspiration as the chromatic palette shifts from one season to another. An abundance of bird life enhances a coffee or lunch break on the deck, leaving one with a sense of peace and gratitude for the simple things of life.
The concept to convert home to gallery arose from a lack of available exhibition space within the area. After a successful solo exhibition in 2009 our home along with the Studio have become a gallery space on a regular basis.
This conversion provides visitors with an alternative setting to view and enjoy original artworks: most are grateful for the opportunity to be welcomed into our home. Meeting an artist provides an opportunity to discuss exhibited works and pose questions. Also, the need for commission is eliminated thus making artwork more affordable. Tea, coffee and cake are on offer with an opportunity to enjoy the ambience for those who wish to partake.
AK Studio / Gallery: open first weekend of each month – 10am – 4pm
